Here's a little productivity hack that has worked wonders for me over the years:
1. Before I take a break or call it a day, I decide 3 things I need to get done when I'm back.
2. I open up a browser tab for each task and give a little "start" to each.
For example, if I need to:
- prepare a proposal, I create a Google Doc and type in the title page along with a couple of headlines
- create a wireframe, I open up Axure and put the page title and a couple boxes
- make a presentation, I open up Canva/Google slides and add a title slide or dump an outline
- write an email, I open the compose box, write the salutation and a few keywords
3. I leave the browser focused on the tab with the highest priority task.
4. I put the laptop to sleep.
The next time I open my laptop, the little "starts" not only remind me what I needed to do but, more importantly, help me overcome the inertia of inaction.
As the stage is already set, I get cracking on what I had to work on right away.
